Nimbus came to us quietly—just as he moves through the world. A silvery-gray cat with the stillness of a cloud and eyes full of unspoken stories, he spent his early days lingering near street corners and gutters, never quite belonging to the bustle around him. Even then, it was clear: Nimbus wasn’t meant for the chaos of the outside world. He needed safety. He needed quiet.

At about one year old, Nimbus is one of the most mellow cats we’ve ever encountered. His subdued nature has led us to believe he was either under-socialized as a kitten or may have experienced trauma early in life as a stray. Whatever his story, it has shaped him into an incredibly gentle and sensitive soul.

We brought Nimbus into the safety of Pooka’s Purrhouse just as coyote sightings were rising in the neighborhood. He didn’t resist. He didn’t panic. He simply accepted the change with the same calm acceptance that now defines his days indoors. From the start, Nimbus has been a soft, steady presence. Not shy in the fearful sense—just deeply mellow. He rests in his upper perch on a warm heating pad, content to observe, not yet ready to engage.

We’re giving him time. Time to feel safe. Time to remember what stillness without danger feels like. His current routine is slow and deliberate, and that’s exactly what he needs. He’s not yet ready for adoption—but when he is, we believe Nimbus will thrive in a peaceful, low-energy home with a gentle human and a quiet rhythm.

He currently shares space with Weasley, separated by a large indoor catio. There have been no signs of stress or territorial behavior from either—just quiet coexistence. It’s a promising sign that Nimbus may do well with another mellow feline companion in the future.

Nimbus is not the kind of cat who will jump into your arms or chase toys across the room. But if you’re someone who values the quiet presence of a companion who gently coexists with you—who watches the world with soft eyes and asks nothing more than a safe, warm corner—then Nimbus may someday be your perfect match.

For now, we are simply honored to give him a place to rest—and we honor his process, just as he is.
